The memorial stone erected by the local
people of Middelfart to the crew of MacRobert's Reply, was gouged out
of the ground by the plane when it struck the forest. It was used as
the centre piece of the memorial garden, and the crater where the rock
came from is still visible, and has deliberately not been filled in.
These pictures show the sequence of events,
from the stone being uncovered following the crash, right through the
intervening years, and up to the present day. The last picture shows
it with all the Azalea's (that fill the crater) in full bloom in the
summer of 2002. Click on any thumbnail for the bigger image. Many thanks
to all those who have contributed photographs for this page.
