Born: December 1920, Derby UK.
Enlisted: 1940 Cardington UK.
Training: Wireless Training School, Blackpool, then Yatesbury for advanced wireless training. 1940 - 1941.
1st Posting: Lossiemouth, Scotland.
At 15 Sqn: From May 1941 - RAF Wyton
History:

Flew Stirlings first as member of Flt.Lt Ryall's crew, and then 20 operations as a member of F/Officer 'Red' King's crew (including John Ryan & Frank Sharp), until F/O King had to stop flying due to severe ear problems.

Undertook occasional wireless instructor duties for 3 Group training flight at Newmarket Heath.

Then flew Stirling ('D' for Donald) in Wing Commander MacDonald's crew, who was 15 Squadron C.O.

Then moved to newly formed crew under Sqn.Ldr Hall to fly W7531 ('F' for Freddie), MacRobert's Reply. Last flight on 17 May 1942. Crashed at Gals Klint Forest, Funnen Island, Denmark on 18 May 1942. Sole survivor of crash and taken P.O.W (Stalag Luft, then Stalag 344 Silesia) until 1945.
