In the continuing quest to find more
information about the immediate aftermath of the crash of the MacRobert's
Reply on 18 May 1942, an article has appeared (today 28 August) in
the Elbo Bladet newspaper in Denmark. It is copied below (for those
of you who know Danish!). Click on any page for the bigger image.
The article covers the crash, and the
story from that time on (as we currenty know it), but asks for any
surviving eye witnesses to the crash, or relatives of those who may
have known of it at the time. It is our hope to uncover some vital
clues to identify the person(s) who found Sgt Jeffs and took him to
the Adlerhus, thereby almost certainly saving his life. Without their
help, the help of the Danish Resistance Movement, and the subsequent
kindness of the doctors and medical staff of Fredericia Hospital,
he probably would not have survived, and I wouldn't be here today
trying to find this information about the sole survivor!
I'd like to acknowledge the help and
assistance given by Bo and Axel Sommerby in the project to find this
mystery person, and the considerable time and effort they have put
in to enable this article to be circulated across Denmark. Thanks
guys.
