This trip, and the ones that have been taking
place since 2006, are intended to raise funds
for the Scott Polar Reasearch Institute based
in Cambridge.
The Institute is a well-known and long-established
centre for research into both polar regions. It
is part of the University of Cambridge.
The Scott Polar Research Institute was formed
in 1920 as a memorial to Captain Scott and his
colleagues and is now a major international centre
for polar research, information and expertise.
From its base in Cambridge, the Institute provides
a service to scientists, explorers, governments,
industries, polar inhabitants and even armchair
travellers the world over.

Having endured the inagrial 2006 challenge, and
after assisting the Friends of the SPRI to find
people crazy enough to undertake this trip in
the intervening years, I have somehow become involved
in not only going out to the arctic again in 2010
(when I will be 53 years of age!), but also to
help put together the team.
I'm not sure quite how this happened, but as
in previous years once I undertake to support
the Friends of the SPRI I'll give it 100%.
So, all I need now are 9 or 10 other 'crazy mushers'
to come out there with me! There are conditions
attached and they are on the
next page,
but if you do come it WILL change your life -
you have been warned!
If you want a taster then follow
this link for a short film of what
we do, and where we go.
I've also prepared pages on hygiene, fitness,
and fundraising. All of thenm can be accessed
at the bottom of the 2010 challenge page.
